Fashion Design Studio 4
Life Hereafter was a collection I made for my major Fashion Design Studio during Year Two Semester Two. The Studio was called "Beast Basics" and was focused on leather and Latex techniques and designing through experimental making. The studio itself challenged us to create "Beastly" textures and experiment and create fashion without drawing and planning.
Life Hereafter is a collection set in a world many years into the post-apocalyptic future caused by human kind, where only a scarce few people survived to live alongside nature, to overtake the man-made world. The beastly is the unknown, the mystery and the confusion of what happened and what will come to pass. It can be described as a sense of disquiet, unease and discomfort felt within your bones at knowledge the beast is coming for you. The beast is the unknown, this world and its monsters are strange and new and more dangerous than ever. In this new world, one must protect, shield and camouflage themselves into the natural world to escape the beast and survive. Survival being the only objective in this new life.
This collection, LIFE HEREAFTER, was inspired predominantly by the documentary “life after people” and has been created as a response to my mid-year latex it and leather it projects through a form of accidental making. Everything I have created was to mimic the look of growth and mould as a form of beastly textures.
